President Rodrigo Duterte flew to Cebu yesterday to visit the wake of Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. The President spent about 20 minutes at the wake. There he announced that as soon as he gets to Manila, he would sign an executive order that would declare October 26 (this Thursday), the burial day of Cardinal Vidal, as a holiday in Cebu.
There will be a road closure in Cebu City during the funeral possession of Cardinal Vidal on October 26, this Thursday. The CCTO said that a portion of Osmeña Blvd., Legaspi St., P. Burgos St. and D. Jakosalem St. will be temporarily closed starting at 7 a.m. The Cardinal will be buried at at 9 a.m. inside the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. Those who wish to join the procession are discouraged from bringing bags, especially backpacks, to avoid delaying the security inspection.
