Toblerone Changing its Triangle Design

2016 is a bad year. David Bowie and Prince die, there was the Brexit in the UK, extra-judicial killings in the Philippines, Donald Trump winning the US presidency. But Toblerone altering the design of their chocolate bar is probably the worst yet.

Here are the internet reactions.

Mondelez International, who makes Toblerone, has increased the gaps between the triangles to reduce the weight of two of its bars in the United Kingdom. The company made the announcement on October 15, saying “the weight of the 400g and 170g bars would be reduced to 360g and 150g respectively to cut costs”.

This is not OK, the chocolate fans say.

The spokesperson to Mondelez denied the change had anything to do with Brexit, the referendum that made Britain leave the European Union. In a statement, the spokesperson added that “unfortunately we are experiencing higher costs for numerous ingredients”. And in order to keep the product on the shelves the company has “had to reduce the weight” of the bars.

The chocolate bar is often given as a Christmas gift around the world, and the tragedy has not gone unnoticed.

And the best yet!....
