The Oxford English Dictionary defines "woke" as 'to being aware' or 'well-informed' in a political or cultural sense", while "post-truth" is defined as "relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping political debate or public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief"
The two new words entered the renowned Oxford English Dictionary this week after taking on substantial meaning and usage following the political and social events of last year, with "post-truth" in particular recognized as the "word of the year" in 2016.
