George A Romero, the director of horror classics such as Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Living Dead has just passed away at the age of 77 years old.
In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, Romero’s producing partner Peter Grunwald said the director died in his sleep after a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer”.
In addition to Romero's revered, influential Zombie Trilogy – 1968's Night of the Living Dead, 1978's Dawn of the Dead and 1985's Day of the Dead – the director also helmed horror films like The Crazies, Creepshow and Monkey Shines.
