Spartan, which was first established in 2010 in Vermont, has quickly become the global leader in obstacle course racing having expanded its franchise to up to 30 countries. This June 16, 2018, Spartan Race Philippines is bringing the obstacle course “Sprint” up the gorgeous Foressa mountain tops in Balamban, Cebu. And here’s how you can join.

Sprint is the shortest Spartan obstacle course perfect for athletes of all levels. From kids and newbies to seasoned racers and professional runners, everyone can join the Sprint race and get an unforgettable experience full of mud, rope, walls, and barbed wire.

On June 16, 2018, the race will occur at Foressa Trails at the Foressa Mountain Town near the Transcentral Highway in Cansomoroy, Balamban, Cebu. It will cover 5+ kilometers with 20+ obstacles sprawling through the great outdoors up the mountain course. The upcoming Spartan Foressa Sprint will have three categories – the Open Category for first-time obstacle racers and teams, the Age Group category to those who are competing against racers of their same age and the Elite category to those who aim to qualify for the Asian and World Championships. Spartan Kids Race is also offered open to all 4 to 13 year olds.

Another category called the Hurricane Heat is also offered. This is a grueling team-based event for teams of 3 racers of the same gender. Top three of the fastest teams of male and female will get a chance to be selected to represent the country. According to Spartan PH Race Director Mike Reyes, those who registered for the Hurricane Heat will go out after the regular races and spend 4-6 more hours of a rigorous semi-military style of engagement. “This is where we really do separate the adults from the children”.

You can see the prices for the registration fees here. 25% of what you pay will go to Smile Train, a charity organization providing free cleft lip and palate surgery to children in need.
