Fashion's Hot Color Remains A Classic Written by Dexter Alazas

One of the most popular color in fashion history typically associated with international  designer brand Valentino is RED.  

Thus the term Valentino Red , popularly labeled for his use of red in grand fashion shows season after season , always expectedly unveiled as the  finale dress. Valentino Garavani was even honored for an exhibit at Museo dell'Ara Pacis for his fashion statement that expands to more than 45 years of style. Probably because it's also the color of love, and passion,  like the name Valentine , symbolized by hearts , celebrated every February 14th as a day of exchanging tokens of affection in honor of St Velentine. This just shows red's true presence , and that fashion and lifestyle embrace red for a lot of reasons.

Similarly, Ad campaigns for Givenchy also used red for quite some time, posing models from the most glamorous to the most  provocative couture confections. Its " come on " image makes a brand standout and demand attention. Make up giant Revlon smacked a series of luscious red lipstick collection that signified the statement that red is definitely hot as the lips that wear them. A kiss from a rose, lustfully vivid and dangerously sinful as it brings out a woman's passion or love.

Chinese  beliefs suggests that the color Red brings good luck, as it was thought of as the most powerful of all colors..   It's vibrant bright hue signifies a look-at - me feeling that boosts ones self esteem by enhancing positive energies , and soliciting attention-grabbing aura. It evokes a luck factor by attracting good vibes from others. On a personal note, Chinese clients who come to my atelier  and order "birthday suits" , by that I mean party wardrobe for that special celebration, signals me to paint the town red.

Although this color also has other connotations , as in Scarlet red , the red light district, or the Moulin Rouge, and China ,  with it's fiery nature and revolt impressions of the past, red remains a classic that will stay in fashion for a long time. Red is just everywhere, from that Lady in red dancing like the song, to Red Hot Chilly Peppers of music, to the discreet soles of Christian Louboutin shoes, this hot color has always figured prominently. Be it art, history, music and fashion , red has revolutionized the way we see things.

Whatever meaning thrown into this color, red is for people looking to be hot and cool at the same time.  I doubt if Little Red Riding Hood would look appropriate in a different color..
