2011 Fashion Fete features Bacolod and Cebu Designers Written by Dexter Alazas

Celebrating  it's second year , SM City Bacolod's annual fashion show  inspired by the festive and colorful mardigras

The Masskara Festival , Moda Masskara  was a display of funtabulous whimsical collection as both young and senior designers from Iloilo, Bacolod, and for the first time Cebu, represented by this writer/designer , were presented to mall audiences on October 15, 2011 at the Sm City Bacolod Events Center. The show also highlighted the finalists of Watch Me Walk, Bacolod's  Top Runway Model search, alongside model hunks ,  back to back with three members of the the Philippine Footbal Team Azkals lead by Angel Aldeguer Guirado , Misagh Bahaduran ,and Roel Gener that wowed the crowd of hundreds gathered to witness one of the city's most anticipated show during the festive week...

With the show concept themed  on color and fantasy, I decided to show my sort of resort collection inspired by the mystical creature the peacock , swiftly floating on the runway in fluid chiffon and tulle, re-embroidered appliqués decorated all over the sheer bodice, covering just the right places . The men slipped into jersey drawstrings and loose tops , and some soft tailored suits to contrast. It's a kind of sampler I thought of experimented segue to my up and coming line in mind. Styling my collection was Pops Bacatan of the Style Squad.

Edgar Jaranilla,  Bacolod's young designer on the rise, worked on a mix of gowns and costumy numbers, showing promise to prom and pageant standouts, with a few corseted ones.   John John Ditching , on the other hand sent off black and white stretch pieces, draped and gathered with body conscious silhouettes and modern structures with a wearable appeal. Claire Jarantilla from Iloilo city brought in shantung and silk taffeta to portray evening formals for the young set , decked with architectural treatments placed on top of each other. Avant garde casuals were Nicole Puentabellas contrasting offer to the line up gave a refreshing change as models walk in day mood feel of the show. Retail brands of SM mall were also visible in between designers collection.

SM City Bacolods formidable marketing team was in full force, together with selected invites of fashionistas, shoppers, and the fans of the Azkals converged as the whole event celebrated in style. Thanks to Ms Glaiza Aungon for the wonderful experience. Looking forward to Moda Masskara 2012...
