 I had a chance to visit Lapu-Lapu a week before Sinulog weekend and check out a local restaurant & bar which was frequented by tourists who come to visit Cebu who offered good food as well as live bands.
This place is quite accessible being situated just along the main highway heading to the airport as well as to the major resorts in the island. The place is called Magellan's Landing or "MAGS" for short, it was on the invite of one of Y101's regular listeners from Germany Stefan Schneider who was in town visiting his girlfriend along with his friend Matthias Merzhäuser. Both come to Cebu at least once or twice a year to do charity work together with a local university visiting slum areas and providing assistance which they gather from doing concerts back in Germany (Stefan is part of a choir where Matthias is the conductor). As one enters MAGS you are greeted by a festive ambiance with friendly staff including the ever smiling Raymond who has been with the Magellan's Landing since they started and the smell of sumptuous Filipino and foreign dishes being prepared. We happened to walk in just in time for the band to start playing some cover songs which did not only dwell on past hits but also current ones. Not everyone knows this but one of the most famous personalities that plays at Magellan's Landing is Bruce Conte who played with the group Earth, Wind, & Fire whenever he is in town.
After having a hearty dinner prepared by their kitchen we then partied the night away with the bands with some drinks. Past midnight we had then to head home but with the plan to meet up again when they come back for another fun evening. So if you are ever in Lapu-Lapu then drop by Magellan's Landing for a good time, they are just located at Mactan Marina Mall.
