One thing that we always try to prioritize in our everyday tasks is the availability of good food, which is on top of the list. With this we know that those of us who are kings and queens of our respective kitchen or “kusina” know what this is all about in general.
Kusina derived from the Spanish word cocina or Latin cucina. Which brings us to Sarah Tiu who used witty wordplay in naming her restaurant Cucinerah for “cucina ni Sarah” or Sarah’s kitchen. By the sound of its name, one would anticipate that the restaurant on Villa Aurora, Brgy. Kasambagan, Cebu City serves mostly Filipino food. But, the her Chinese ancestry might also give you second thoughts and expect a Chinese cuisine instead. Fortunately, none of those would aptly define Cucinerah.
Cucinerah actually offers a wide variety of food choices that one can freely choose from American to European to Japanese to Korean dishes. For those pretty patriotic, some items will surely pass the Pinoy taste such as the Pork Binagoongan,
which is a Filipino favorite shrimp paste in tenderized pork garnished with chili.
The pride of Cucinerah is the Signature Fork Tender Osso Bucco. Looks alone can guarantee one would have no use for any appetizer. Made from beef shanks slow-cooked for hours on fresh tomato sauce and aromatic herbs. Sarah, who also happens to be the chef herself, considers this her specialty.
Though the main course needs no appetizer, Cucinerah’s relish is worth mentioning not only for its look and taste but also for its name. The pizzie-tizer is made of sweet and smooth ground beef, tomatoes, cheese and onions. It is served with spicy wanton wrappers, giving the dish a Chinese touch.
Cucinerah also offers a pasta selection. With easy favorites such as the beef basil lasagna, which is made of bechamel and bolognese sauce in lasagna sheets topped with mozarella cheese. Other options are super spaghetti taco, chicken pesto pasta and
fettuccine Hungarian goulash.
For those who are on the go and are more fond of snacks there is the cheese hamburger made of premium beef with savory seasoning. Another is the pulled chicken sandwich made of chicken tossed in Cucinerah’s homemade barbecue sauce, topped with cheese and pickles. All these meals are served with fries.
Desserts are also available. There is the decadent brownie made of warm and moist brownie topped with ice cream and chocolate syrup or the thrill of Cucinerah’s cupcake of the day, which is changed every day.
