Six hours, four karters per team, one media guest per team, one kart per team.
Kartzone hosted on December 17, the 6 Hours Endurance Race that tested not only the driving skills of the kart enthusiasts, but also the karts themselves that were put through the very rigorous test.
When the checkered flag went up and when the penalties were slapped, Team Carcel emerged as the champion having completed 601 laps.
The team was manned by siblings Tonyo and Kali Carcel, Patrick Gandiongco, Chino Macachor, and Sonny Alo.
Team Carcel went toe-to-toe with Team CRV, whose efforts later went for naught due to a discrepancy in the gear ratio that cost them the race.
Race organizers said that the mechanics erred in installing the proper rear sprocket.
Second place went to Team Hilton composed of Peterson Lim, his cousin Wally Lim, Wilson Ong, Ernie Miranda, and Hans Lorenz. The team managed 564 laps.
Taking third place was Team Tiktilaok-Radical Ads, which completed 571 laps, but lost out the second place honors due to an eight-lap penalty.
Team Tiktilaok-Radical Ads was composed of Lord Seno, Ray Tan, Dr. Clive Fermin, Frederick Cortes, and this writer, who fulfilled the requirement for a guest from media to drive a few laps.
The penalty was slapped on the team very late in the race when one of the side pods of the kart fell off and it took eight laps before it was brought into the pit lane.
Fourth place went to Team TEC composed of Jess Garcia, Janjan Gonzales, Manger Calderon, and the father and son duo of Dondi and Jed Binoya.
More than a test of endurance of man and machine, events like this is also a test of how rules are followed to the letter.
In motor sports, stewards and organizers always make sure that there are no breach of the rules and regulations to help ensure the safety of the participants.
The celebration started even before the engines cooled, but before the adrenalin brought by the race wore off, the participants were already eager for the next one in 2012.

The team with the most laps made after six hours wins the race.

Wheel-to-wheel racing provided the excitement.

Cebu's karting community came together for the event.
