The Coral Invitational is the annual member-guest tournament of Cebu Country Club. This is a two-man team event played on the week of the Sinulog celebration to allow the participants to enjoy the revelry after four days of golf.
This year’s overall title went to Wellington Lim and Retired Commodore Danny Pizarro, who have teamed up for the past 16 editions of the tournament.
The team fired a two-day total of 166 points scoring big on their second round with 88 after combining for 78 on their opening day.
The tournament uses the Modified Stableford Scoring System where a double-eagle is worth six points, an ace is five, eagle four, birdie 3, par 2, and a bogey 1.
The overall gross champion of the tournament was the tandem of Bayani Garcia and Davao’s Ludwig Ledesma with 134 points. Garcia displayed awesome mastery of the course and the game shooting identical rounds of four-under-par 40 points.
Garcia’s performance also earned him the individual honors for the best gross score. The best individual net score went to Washington ‘Wally’ Lim, Wellington’s son, who fired rounds of 46 and 45 for a total of 91 points.
First runner-up was the tandem of Jacinto ‘Jack’ Jamero and Jepthe Romea with a total of 161 points beating two other teams in the countback.
Second runner-up was the duo of Koichi Horii and Akio Ueda also with 161 while third runner-up was the tandem of Jonji Chiongbian and Gassy Lizares also with 161.
Fourth runner-up was the duo of Tito Pintor and Marlou Cugtas with 160 while fifth runner-up was the pair of Gerry Glenn Saw and Gerry Sy with 159.
The seniors’ title went to the pair of Lor Alaan and Edwin Espina with 157 followed by Edwin Medalle and Roberto Ramos with 156 and Bebot Baldemor and Choie Ramos with 152.
Best score of the first day among the regular teams went to Charlie Go and Guilbert Purcia with 83 while the best among the seniors were Robin Craze and John Teague with 78.
For the second day, the best score among the regular teams went to Tim Milne and Richard Li with 86 while the best for the seniors were Bobit Avila and Sim Guinocor with 83.
The winners of the major awards are not qualified to win the best score for the day.
After the success of the 31st Coral Invitational, the players and the guests are now looking forward to the 32nd edition next year.
 Wellington Lim and Danny Pizarro won the overall lowest net title.
 Bayani Garcia and Ludwig Ledesma were the overall lowest gross champions.
 Runner-up honors went to the team of Jack Jamero and Jepthe Romea.
 Lor Alaan and Edwin Espina bagged the seniors' division title.
