From the people who brought us "300" comes another action packed movie entitled "Immortals" which promises to delivery us the best visual effects and heart stopping action that only Hollywood can offer. The story is based on the famous Greek mythology on the ancients Gods such as Zeus and the Titans.
It starts off with The Heraklion King of Crete, Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) declaring war on Olympus after the Gods fail to answer his prayers to save his family from illness, and starts searching for the Epirus Bow, a powerful weapon created by the God of War Ares (Daniel Sharman), which he intends to use to release the Titans from Mount Tartarus and destroy the gods. Hyperion attacks several holy places in search of the Epirus Bow, which was lost on Earth during the last war between the Gods and the Titans, and after kidnapping a virgin oracle priestess called Phaedra (Freida Pinto from Slumdog Millionaire), his army advances towards a nearby village, where the young Theseus (Henry Cavill) lives with his mother. Theseus' mother conceived him after being raped (twist is that it could've been Zeus). As with all Greek mythologies there is always a person of interest or favored by the Gods, in this case it is Theseus who finds the Epirus Bow only to loose it to Hyperion who successfully releases the Titans. If you were captivated by the blood and gore from 300 then you would not be disappointed with Immortals as it delivers visually realistic kill shots by the actors and you can also see how the Gods are demolished by the Titans.
Though what I saw was not an official release or screener of the said movie, I would not hesitate to definitely catch it on the wide screen or even shell out more to view it on iMax knowing that it is not going to disappoint me.
