When you are half the reason that Hollywood has not gone bankrupt, then maybe you do have the right to fire one of Tinseltown’s most gorgeous creatures who appropriately goes by the name of Megan Fox.
The news that it was Steven Spielberg’s decision to drop Fox from the second sequel of the Transformers franchise might paint the mega-director as an autocrat who will brook no disrespect from a pretty face. It wasn’t even Spielberg who was the object of Fox’s “Hitler” comment but the film’s director Michael Bay, who confirmed that it was the film’s producer, Spielberg, who wanted her out after learning what Fox said.
So the object of tens of millions of boyish fantasies is out of the movie to be replaced by another pretty face who may not have the same impact Fox had but the basically mindless action extravaganza involving giant sentient alien robots who have made Planet Earth their personal boxing ring will still make enough money to buy a Third-World country.
Spielberg is both critically and commercially super successful as a film director and has tried his hand just as successfully producing. He is obviously not resting on his laurels, but come on, Spielberg, sir, give Megan Fox a break! It will be hard to watch Transformers 3 a.k.a. Transformers: Dark of the Moon without the sultry beauty of Miss Fox adorning all that carnage, explosions and crushed metal.
Well, too late. Transformers 3 will be in theaters before July. Unless they will reshoot the scenes involving the new leading lady with Fox in it, we will just have to put up with the results of Spielberg’s school-principal expulsion act.
