Because Lindsay Lohan is a movie star she doesn’t immediately go to jail for stealing a ,500 necklace but is under house arrest where she could be for two weeks to at least a month while she appeals her case. That’s like a slap on the hand for the spoiled brat Lohan. Her 120-day prison sentence and 480 hours of community service though could change her for the better.
She is expected to be treated with kid gloves in prison because no matter what the U.S. penal system says that everyone is equal in jail, it’s not true. It won’t be Caged Heat for Lohan but many of the creature comforts she’s used to she won’t have in prison. She will have more than enough time to ponder her past and future plus her present and maybe that will make her change her ways. But that’s not likely.
Lohan is a rebellious spirit. Not even hardened career criminals would dare paint “F__k you” on their fingernails in court hoping someone finds out to spite the judge.
So what does a movie star like Lohan do while under house arrest? For one she makes an ad for a website and gets paid for it on top of getting credit on the site. She has also allowed herself to be interviewed by a print magazine on how it is forced to live in a luxurious house while waiting to serve her sentence.
Being a bad girl has actually helped Lohan’s career which she has otherwise damaged with her shenanigans. She has been a regular in the news so the public is aware of her. Public awareness can only be good for a celebrity.
After Lohan gets out of jail and granted that she stays reasonably behaved to be able to do movies, the public interest generated by her actions can mean more warm bodies in the theaters where her films will be shown.
We now know that some celebrities desperate for attention intentionally make sex videos for publicity’s sake. Lohan hasn’t exactly done that. Her bad behavior probably was done for the heck of it not with an eye on media coverage.
Lohan can milk it for all it’s worth.
