Since campaign period is gearing up in the US in light of the upcoming presidential elections, we have seen a throng of likely candidates fielded by the Republican party to go up against Obama.
From the mainstay politicians who keep coming back to the stage to run again and again (Mitt Romney) to some old faces (Newt Gingrich) all piling up to get a chance at the Oval office as well as the perks of being the head honcho of the most powerful nation in the world (not far from China though). We all know that the incumbent has been the first colored president the US has had, and though he was the likely choice to replace good o'd George Bush who was preferably a favorite of mine for being a true blooded Texan who had the balls to get things done we all know that politics is a see-saw in the US that is a competition between the Democrats and the Republicans unlike here in our fair country.
Now in the run up to the primaries another prominent colored contender has emerged by the name of businessman Herman Cain, who like Obama is colored but more African American and has successfully established a prominent pizza franchise. But over the past few weeks into his run he has been bombarded by allegations of sexual harassment left and right from women under his employment over the years. This is latest accusation may seem to be the last straw for Cain who has contemplated of bowing out of the race for president considering that it is very damaging. Reminds us when Arnold ran for governor of California where a number of women also came out claiming they were sexually harassed. It would've been quite a spectacle to see two colored men from two different political parties duke it out during the elections which would prove to be an interesting competition. Cain though a novice at politics may be just what the Republican machinery needs to counter Obama but knowing that majority of Republicans are from the South and areas where slavery was practiced, he (Cain) has an uphill battle should he still consider finishing what he started.
Perhaps the time for a Fil-Am to run for the Oval office is still a few decades or centuries away but who knows? In the uncertainty of the US economy everything is on the line on another 4 years with Obama on the helm or a Republican to step in and try to turn things around.
