Fridays are awesome at Y101 with Bootleg Gold! Written by Mama Cash

If there’s one day I really look forward to, it’s a Friday at Y101! I really love that fifth day of the week – it’s my fave! It’s when I feel the weekend is somewhere in the air, it’s when I wrap up my whirligig of time’s work and feel accomplished doing so and most importantly, it’s when I do Bootleg Gold!

I know that everyone cherishes Fridays since it’s the end of their long work week and the start of their party weekend. It’s mine too. But what excites me most is the two hours I go on board to please my audience with the music they anticipate for seven full days. For me, it’s time to rock with my listeners and that to me spells p-a-r-t-y!

Clubbing is great but rocking is the summit of bliss! And when I spin the best rock tracks on my gig, it totally allures me making my day! I feel I’m blessed to be able to go on air and share my favorite rock tunes with my fans and as such, it impels me to give a good show.

And what are those beloved tracks?

The 90s definitely rule! I so like the era when Nirvana swept the world off their feet, Lenny Kravitz detonated the airwaves, Pearl Jam rocked and Red Hot Chili Peppers shook the entire universe! An epoch when alternative, grunge and metal rock dominated, it certainly created an upshot in my music life.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the 70s and 80s – Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, U2, Genesis, and all that – epics in the rock world; but the 90s, well, I just have a soft heart for those moments!

Often times I wonder how my Fridays would be without Bootleg Gold, and then I stop and don’t want to think further because I can’t stand the thought of going through a Friday without Y101 – The Rhythm is just too awesome!
