I’m guessing this is a topic many women can relate to. I’m guessing too that this is a topic most men would like take a whiff of. This is why I decided to write about this controversial topic!!!
1992 marked a significant year when in May, John Gray’s fascinating book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus was published. Speculating that men and women came from two entirely different poles, it ends up that true to fact, stereotype opposite genders have colossal differences. As an example, while women complain about problems for acknowledgement, men acknowledge problems for solutions! Obviously, Martians and Venusians speak different languages!
Gazillions of material from therapists, counselors, speakers and other sources have been suggested to improve men-women relationships tapping on emotional needs, enhancement in communication techniques and more. Undoubtedly, based on respect and acceptance, these differences can be transformed into phenomenally successful marriages of the minds and given a chance, the outcome can be blissful!
We also know that men and women are from different planets (as the title of the book implies) and placed on Earth with amnesia, these relationships could arrive to major dead-ends!
But we’re not talking about solutions or disastrous outcomes here today. This article is all about what women hate about their men – or better yet, what I despise in men! I think we need to take a close look at and be a bit more specific on what these dislikes are so hell yeah! Let’s go at it Venusians!
It has never been too hard for me to think of the things that women would dislike about men. Being a woman myself, I can blather on forever. But the tops – well! These are real toss ups! This topic can really get pretty intense and nasty so if you’d care to join me???
I’m placing bets that both you men and women will have oodles to argue about on my list!
1. Male Chauvinism
The term “chauvinism” originates from the name of a French soldier, Nicolas Chauvin, who expressed exaggerated and aggressive nationalism and spread hatred for minorities and other nations.
In the 60s, the women’s liberation movement dubbed the phrase “male chauvinism” to describe males who refused to accept women as their equals.
I would think that this has to be the number one dislike of most women. It’s definitely mine!!! Men tend to feel that they are the superior being. Men more often than not, are in the belief that they are entitled to have attitude and do whatever they please regardless of how hurtful they can be, speaking to women as their inferiors, treating women with little or no respect and even abusing women, whether physically or verbally based solely upon their gender.
I personally abhor this one! Men that go around thinking they are the Adonis of mankind have serious inferiority complexes and need to get some real aphrodisiacs to cure their obscure mental diseases indeed! At the end of the day, what the hell would men do without their women?
2. Selfishness
Author of noteworthy masterpieces, Scottish statesman Sir James Mackintosh once philosophized that “selfishness is a vice utterly at variance with the happiness of him who harbors it, and, as such, (is) condemned by self-love”.
Women by nature are givers but not quite altruists. Usually, women feel that they revolve around what men want and when they start to sense that their men do not reciprocate in any way, it causes tremendous stress in a relationship. This leads to unnecessary negative emotions like self-pity, abandonment and the feeling of not being loved, ultimately leading women to have the need to pamper themselves in lieu of their men doing so. Is it truly necessary for the woman to say "I'll do it your way this time but next time we'll do what I want"?
On the other hand, men by nature have no problem in giving to themselves and worse yet, not giving enough to others. They are more inclined to go overboard about their supreme self-preference which directs their purposes or concerns to benefit their own interest, power or happiness without regarding those of others.
Women need affection, considerateness and absolutely have to be noticed while men conform to just about anything. Therefore men need to learn new skills to produce comfort in their women. For example, in sex, foreplay is more important for a woman than a man. Women need 20 to 30 minutes of stimulation while men need just 2-3 minutes. How many of you women can say that your men give you enough???
This one’s a given - women hate selfish men! What does it take for men to make an effortless stop at an ice-cream parlor to surprise their women with their favorite sundae or the flavor of the month? Obviously, a little less self-love!
3. Lack of Sensibility
How many times have you heard women say men are so insensitive? Oh yes – and they certainly are!
Studies have confirmed that while women are almost always abreast of all the motion surrounding them, men have little or no perception of or responsiveness toward anything happening around them, particularly the emotions of others.
Men have the tendency to believe that all is good. They assume they have the right to be narcissists when they are angry, scream when they are wrongly right, belittle the less fortunate, react defensively to their wrong-doings, think they make no mistakes (ever), and expect that this is all acceptable!
Men in general are heartless and inhuman. They tend to forget that women need to be pampered and cared for. I relate to complaints like “I stay up all night sick to death while my husband just snores me out after a fight!”
This is definitely a no-no insensitive man!!!
I frequently wonder if men just act dumb, if they are really stupid or if they are simply ignorant. Whichever the case is, if only men would do the most insignificant things that can turn around relationships like an effortless “I’m sorry”, it can change a crisis situation dramatically.
Yet why do you let your pride and righteousness take over the better half of your heart – dim-witted Martian?
4. Deceitfulness
If there’s one thing I absolutely hate in men, it’s a lousy freaking liar! Dishonesty is the height of hypocrisy, hypocrisy is the height of insincerity and insincerity is the height of two-facedness! In not too many words, this means that a man that is deceitful lives a double standard life.
How many of you women are christened with that brilliant term “jealous”? How many of you women have found out that your Martian is lying to you? How many of you women suspect that your partner is cheating on you? Often enough, right? Well, let me tell you one thing – you’re probably right! And that’s why you are in effect jealous or maybe a better way of expressing it is “possessive”.
Generally, a man that is deceitful is a cheater!
Have you ever experienced a huge fight with your Martian where you’re just ready to send him to hell? I have!!! And well, have you ever been told that he wants things to work out in the relationship and the most important thing in his life is “you”! Oh yes, I’m sure most of us Venusians have heard these flowery words before. Martians are good at this – they truly make you believe they’re turning over a new leaf yet a few hours later, they sneakily turn around and go back to their same old selves! Sound familiar?
This is another one for the books alright! I reiterate: I totally despise deceit! If it were up to me, I would add another commandment – thou shalt not be sneaky!
5. Cleanliness
Women tend to be more conscious about how they smell while men are more careless. There is nothing worse than having to be with a man that has bad breath or doesn’t take showers. Hygiene is one of the most important things a woman looks for in a man.
Many men think that the rugged look is cute! This may be the case if your man is Brad Pitt and looks overrule reek! Otherwise, it’s a total turn-off!
Oh well, I think I’ve rapped enough! In closing I just wanted to say that I’m the kind of woman that always keeps score in all my relationships. Whenever I do something for anyone, I give myself a point but whenever anyone hurts me, I also score that point against them.
Men need to keep score in a relationship too! They too, need to score points with their woman!
