How can you answer a question if someone you know or someone would just randomly ask you how fast do you live your life?
Quite catchy right? You'd probably be used to having people ask how you are or something that requires less neurons in your brain to fire up. This is quite interesting since I have believe it or not stuttered at such a question thrown at me before and yes it does sound like a line from the first movie from the Fast and the Furious franchise wherein Vin Diesel says "I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free." But it does get us thinking how fast can we say we are living our lives? We sometimes can't tell how time flies just like browsing the pages of a book we plan to purchase at a bookstore or having a shot of vodka / tequila which is not like scotch that can be consumed slowly savoring the taste unless if you have a strong tolerance or just plain new to drinking. Getting back to the subject I've conjured up, when was the last time you felt so lost and missing out on time due because everything just happened fast it was like a blur? This blur differs from the blur we get after too much booze but it can also be connected since we do loose the sense of time and space connecting point A to point B. Waking up in the morning wondering how you got home and trying to piece the events of the night before has been my biggest weakness, I personally can never remember a person's name but I have a good memory in remembering peoples faces. I've had times wherein I seemed to have been teleported from the party to my bed instantaneously minus the travelling time that is quite dangerous and "Hangover" like scenario as seen in the movies. Does age really factor in us slowing down or does it just have something to do with the genes or lifestyle one chooses to go with. A balanced lifestyle can extend ones fast paced life but a negligent person who just goes non-stop ends up in the sidelines sooner. We only live once, unless if the dawn of cybernetics comes much sooner then we can probably live longer as half-cyborgs and humans but what fun would that be if we were to loose our vulnerability? Nothing feels real and life is dull as we forget our tender fragile bodies and embrace immortality to beat the curse called death. But I also believe that the pace of a person or society's life can also be based on how modern or develop the environment is such as people living in New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, London, and Makati for example tend to be more upbeat in doing everyday things as compared to those living in less developed or areas with higher ratio of citizens who are above the age of 30 and less teenagers or kids. Safe to say living in Cebu has better mix or balance which suits me just right as well as with most Cebuanos who dread the hustle and bustle of bigger metropolitan areas but still nurse a hidden desire to experience it at some point.
