Aerosmith's Joe Perry says he and his band mates are well on their way to completing a new album, which they've been working on in Los Angeles with the group's longtime producer, Jack Douglas.
The iconic guitarist tells Canada's QMI Agency that he's hoping the project will be "done in the next month or so."
With regard to what the new material sounds like, he reveals, "It definitely has a feel like some of the early stuff. We've tried to bring that back…Every way that we used to make our records, that's what we did to get this to where it is."
Aerosmith members already have noted that the band will be touring this summer in support of the album, while Perry reports, "We're gonna put tickets on sale in February or March and we're going on the road in June."
Besides his band's new recording, Perry also is working on an autobiography.
"I'm writing some of the stuff myself and working with an author to pull it together," he explains. "It's not just about Aerosmith, though that's a big part of my life. I like to think it will encompass more than that."
Asked if the memoir will include any major revelations, he says, "Probably not. But there will be a lot of stuff that makes people go, 'Oh, really?'"
Meanwhile, remember to tune in to NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday night at 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 p.m. CT to catch the Perry perform his rendition of Bob Dylan's "Man of Peace."
