What’s coming in strong this week, Mike O?
For one, we have Avril Lavigne on the thoroughfare again with her second single Smile out of her 2011 album entitled Goodbye Lullabye. A fan consensus decided the release of this track to Push, following her successful song What the Hell, and we’re certainly anticipating this one to make it up there as well!
Yet another captivating pop funk song from Canadian recording artist Lavigne, music critics awarded favorable reviews for the blooming track and described it as a “sassy and catchy pop song”. Already mapping in Australia, Japan and other countries, we can look ahead to a high and mighty hit in the making.
A second track to be unleashed this week on the New Tracks Hour is Jet Lag by Canadian pop rock band Simple Plan Featuring Natasha Bedingfield straight out of Montréal in Québec. This is the first official single from their new album Get Your Heart On! and the first collaboration with Brit-pop artist Bedingfield.
Receiving a B+ rating and positive reviews the track is a “surprisingly lovely pop-punk pounder about intercontinental relationships”! Y101 Always First agrees 101 % and sees it soaring up the charts in no time!
And now, the bomb! Surprise track of the week: Aerosmith frontman and American phenomenon Steven Tyler (just like Jennifer Lopez) capitalizes on his seat as a judge in American Idol and releases a single to compliment his autobiography Does the Noise in My Head Bother You. The song – Feels So Good.
But this is not just any track – it’s a super Armageddon from the rock legend himself! Premiered on May 9, 2011 on Ryan Seacrest’s show and released digitally on iTunes and Amazon MP3 the day after, it made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 35.
Originally entitled Oxygen (you’ll know why when you check out the lyrics), the track was written in 2002 for pop-oriented listeners. A potentially powerful song since the popular 2001 track Jaded (a Y101 favorite), this song will indisputably rock Cebu!
Be there every Monday to Thursday morning from 5 AM – 6 AM as Mr. O presents the best of the best new-fangled fresh hits on The New Tracks Hour– it’s where you’ll find out what’s the trend!
