There’s only one predictable spot for Katy Perry this week at Rick’s list and that’s numero uno!
An unyielding addition to Perry’s repertoire of high-powered singles E. T. continues the thread of three consecutive smash hits on the leader-board out of her album Teenage Dream and is more than likely to top the charts with her fourth ace for at least another week.
With all the reviews (positive and negative), write-ups and marketing and merchandizing schemes of the sexually energetic thumping dance-pop track with Queen’s We Will Rock You appealing beat, it’s a given that it’ll make No. 1 once more. And with a captivating chorus and the non-conventional lyrics with provocative lines and erotic metaphors like “I wanna see your peacock” and “Fill me with your poison”, the three and a half minute cut is most definitely mesmerizing Perry’s fans!
Last week, we had American recording artist and songwriter Ke$ha slowly creep up to No. 2, patiently positioned for the master slot to be relinquished. Blow is one more of those top dog tracks with a very catchy rhythm. This party-anthem is well on its way to be the next titleholder for the charts with its electro pop and dance pop beat obviously conveying clubbing experience – which, according to Kesha represent herself and her fans and their desire to have a good time.
At No. 3 is yet another cardinal track just about ready to detonate the Weekly Top 40 countdown. Just Can’t Get Enough, second single out of the American hip hop group The Black Eyed Peas’ sixth studio album The Beginning is coming in strong. A success in all charts globally, it stands to be a winner in next to no time as it sells more than a million digital units in the US alone.
And at No. 5 last week, we had Britney Spears rapidly soar up the list with Till the World Ends, an added dilemma for Dees to unravel as the divas take over his top spots.
Also climbing northbound is J Lo Featuring Pitbull with Get on the Floor at No. 6, Jeremih Featuring 50 Cent with Down On me and Tinie Tempah Featuring Eric Turner with Written in the Stars while Avril Lavigne stays steady at No.7 with What the Hell. While slots start opening up at the Dees’ empire, some of the earlier front-runners like Rihanna’s S & M slide down the chart. Now, which of these contingents will make it to the peak?
Only locking into the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 countdown will reveal the results.
Expected to make a huge leap to the top is Adele’s Rolling in the Deep and The Script’s For the First Time which we likewise forecasted at Y101’s Weekly Top 20. Two great tracks rising with lots of spunk, they will soon enter into the top 10 numbers!
Here’s a sure-shot! The much-anticipated new single Run the World by Beyonce (as we mentioned in our New Tracks Show a few weeks back) is soon to debut the Dees’ graphs. Growing in on listeners, this song is conjectured to become another one of her hits as she matures her predictable style without losing the cutting-edge originality imitating her kudos.
It’s only here at Dees’ home in the Philippines, Y101 Always First that you’ll hear the hottest hits in the US when The Rhythm of the City brings you Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 sponsored by Citibank Cash Back Card, powered by Citi.
