If one were to compare countdowns, shockingly they’re almost all alike except when you come across Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 and Y101’s Weekly Top 20.
While Katy Perry’s looking like she’ll still own the countdown with her epic track E.T. as she sweeps the world off its feet for the third consecutive week in Dees’ official curtain-raising, Adele’s track Rolling in the Deep has already tasted the record-breaking slot at Y101.
That’s because here at Y101 Always First, we let the islands do the choosing! And being in Cebu, our tops are usually inspired by the paradise on earth feel, the secluded and romantic bouquet of stunning islands with sandy white beaches, the all-year-round tropical climate and of course the casual resort style of living.
This verses Southern California’s Los Angeles megapolitan state of mind where Hollywood is just around the corner. Influenced by the grandeur of cinematography, studios and movie stars, the life of the rich and famous down at Beverly Hills, the beach volleyball, sandcastle building, surfers and beautiful women in skimpy bikinis in the picturesque coastline – yes, this is how Rick Dees gets motivated to create the most prestigious countdown yet!
Now, backtracking to the English singer Adele who’s just about ready to enter the impressive top10 songs in the chart – Y101 forecasts that sooner than later she’ll make it to champ! With positive reviews from critics, her first-ever No. 1 single to top a Billboard chart (reaching No. 1 on the Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks), this bluesy-kinda-country-rock song has nowhere else to go but to the peak!
Wondering how Ke$ha’s Blow will be propelling this week after she’s been restlessly waiting at second place? A sure winner after Perry bows out the chart-buster, this fast-approaching best-seller and very dance electro-pop and appealing tune will definitely make some significant noise.
Waiting in line as well is Black Eyed Peas with their successful track Just Can’t Get Enough. Stuck at No. 3, it’s holding on for a window in the top spot when there’s an opening! The electro song attempting to showcase Fergie’s “physical and emotional range” voice is certainly making tremendous progress internationally!
Also expect Britney Spears to move towards the finish line – her tracks getting all that too! Till the World Ends’ upbeat tempo about the magical night that should never end seems to be getting a remarkable amount of followers. About its video, Spears commented “It's an energy and it looks fresh. It has a certain vibe with it and it makes sense.”
Watch out for The Script’s For the First Time – it’s hot! And the song is slowly creeping into the top magnificent 10. Another hot tip: Lupe Fiasco with The Show Goes On – the single is sizzling in the pop-R&B charts and is expected to make a push to enter into the top 20 hits.
Last but not least, expect this “sureshot”: Look at Me Now by Chris Brown Featuring Lil Wayne. This new track from Mr. Brown brings him back to his R&B and hip-hop thud and is expected to hit the Dees' charts pretty soon.
Do lock into Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 as it brings you the most exciting countdown every Sunday from 2 PM – 6 PM with replays every Wednesday from 8 PM – 10 PM. It’s paramount!
