Comparing countdowns here at Y101 Always First is really quite a challenge since often times we tend to be on the same note with chart-toppers while other times we’re totally poles apart. This week we’ll determine if we share the same opinion on who really is numero uno!
Adele is definitely a hot number. Will her sizzling single climax to the peak slot in Rick Dees’ list just like the three consecutive weeks she triumphed on Y101’s Weekly Top 20? Our guess is: it’ll most likely replace last week’s Weekly Top 40 hot-seller Just Can’t Get Enough by Black Eyed Peas given its immense success.
Veering from the usual pop and R&B record-breakers, Adele’s second studio album 21 (released last January 21 of 2011 in the UK and other parts of Europe) with a folk and Motown influence made it to highest grosser in the UK, a rare feat which is now conquering all graphs in the US! A sure chart-buster, expect its flagship track Rolling in the Deep to be the song of the week!
Meanwhile, Britney Spears’ Till the World Ends patiently waits at second place to see if it can get a whiff of the crown. Her second uptempo dance-pop single from her latest album Femme Fatale soared northbound most charts, but wedged – will it see the light anytime soon?
J Lo Featuring Pitbull too lingers at third place with her track Get on the Floor together with her fellow-Latino Americano rapper. Will the 130 bpms of dance-pop, electro-pop and electro house get her to the top?
Third single from British rapper Tinie Tempah Featuring Eric Turner seems to be getting quite a boost as it hits the UK Singles Charts. Written in the Stars from his debut album Disc-Overy is making waves as the catchy tune continues to gain popularity. At No. 7 last week, expect it to rocket to the top!
Here’s a sure shot: David Guetta Featuring Flo Rida as he teams up with the American rapper to bring on the summer heat in Europe and the US combining contemporary R&B and Eurodance. With excellent reviews, anticipate Where Them Girls At to be another official solstice track!
Debuting on the countdown: Martin Solveig Featuring Dragonette with Hello, a North American clubbers’ fave as the French electronic music DJ and producer promotes the catchy track already peaking all over Europe and New Zealand.
Also look out for some sudden unforeseen crash outs from the countdown – our guess Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
