Sundays can’t get any better here at Y101 Always First! We have a sweet line-up of great tracks in our playlist athwart the day and for the icing on the cake we present the most unrivaled and respected international countdown that rules the pop scene, The Rick Dees Weekly top 40!
For the last four weeks, Adele has powered the Rick Dees’ kingdom with Rolling in the Deep so we’re uncertain if she’ll pull it off for a fifth gear today. While Bruno Mars is on his way down with what we thought would make it to the leader board this summer in the US, Canada and Europe, Pitbull Featuring Ne-Yo & Nayer is slowly creeping up the chart. Trading slots, it now turns out that Mars’ power Jawaiian ballad The Lazy Song is down to No. 3 while Pitbull’s hip hop up-tempo pop track Give Me Everything is at No. 2!
The second single from the American rapper’s fifth album Planet Pit is categorically making waves! It was written by Pitbull himself together with American singer and songwriter Ne-Yo and Dutch producer and DJ Afrojack. A first for Pitbull at No. 1 in the Billboard Top 100 charts and a climaxing song in many parts of the globe, this bopping song is a promising winner this week!
Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory is rapidly gaining strength in the Rick Dees countdown as well. Only five weeks into the chart, this dance track released digitally last May 9, 2011 has successfully soared its way up reaching a significant No. 4. Moved by the death of her grandfather, Gaga speaks of the last moments on Earth in the lyrics. Already recognized as a title holder worldwide, we expect this third single from her Born This Way album to creep up to the ace slot.
Also hot is Lupe Fiasco’s The Show Goes On and as we mentioned last week, this rap is flying! Wasalu Muhammad Jaco (Fiasco) is an American rapper who’s philanthropic and political views inspired much of his works. From his latest revolutionary album LASERS, acronym for “Love Always Shines Everytime: Remember (to) Smile” this offspring will profusely make some noise!
Two sizzling songs that are surely making their way up: LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem at No. 9 and Jason Derulo’s Don’t Wanna Go Home at No. 10 (on the last countdown) expected to make a breakthrough to rank within the enhanced top 10 slots this week! And a sure shot this week: Iyaz Featuring Travie McCoy collaborating in a catchy pop track Pretty Girl.
All this and more when you lock into Y101 Always First to listen to the most preeminent countdown in the universe The Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 right here at your favorite station! It runs from 2 PM to 6 PM every Sunday and replays from 8 PM to 12 midnight every Wednesday. Don’t miss out!
