When last week we were speculating on Adele making a five-peat with Rolling in the Deep on the WT 20 charts or Chingy possibly succeeding the throne with the trendy Superhero, or even Nikki Minaj’s Super Bass making a move to the lead, what we didn’t expect at all was that a super zoomer would steal the No. 1 spot from them all.
Like a bombshell, Martin Solveig Featuring Dragonette busted the charts with the record-breaking track Hello. It first entered our countdown two weeks ago as a hotshot debut at No. 10 and rocketed up 9 spots to the prime spot in just seven days. Now on its first week on the flame, the hot clubbing hit is the most requested song of the week in Y101 Always First and seems to be thumping its way into recognition with more catapults!
A very catchy dance track out of his fifth studio album Smash, the 34 year old French electronic music DJ and producer Martin Picandet (Solveig) has meshed in the Canadian electro-pop group’s vocals to create his most successful single making it to No. 1 in Europe and a chart-buster all over the globe. Extremely trendy among our Y101 listeners, it will probably make it for a second round at numero uno.
Still curled at No. 2 and 3 are Chingy and Nikki Minaj respectively and by the look of things, they’re going nowhere but down to the South Pole! With Rihanna’s power ballad California King Bed coming in strong, odds are this 4 minute 11 second favorite will surpass them and go head on with Solveig to grab the preferred seat at the WT 20 countdown.
American country music group Lady Antebellum is not one to take lightly either. The slow tempo and romantic single Just a Kiss from their upcoming third album Own the Night is gaining popularity in the music scene as it keeps us in touch with the reality of an exciting new relationship. Positive reviews have placed the song on the map making it a possible winner in the near future.
Soul singer Cee Lo Green Featuring Whiz Kalifa is up 3 spots too with the third song Bright Lights Bigger City out of his album The Lady Killer which talks about night life and living for the weekend. In addition, another track to look forward to is The Script’s Science and Faith as it rises up the charts at high-speed.
