The man that “changed pop music completely with art and artifice” as quoted by Telegraph’s Music Director Bernadette McNulty, is gone at age 69 and Jiggy In The Morning mourns his death with a special tribute.

The king of glam rock has left us all in deep sadness as he ended his 18-month battle with cancer right after his birthday only last January 8 leaving us with the release of his 27th studio album, Blackstar, as his parting gift on that same day. He expired in his New York home surrounded by family.

David Robert Jones or better known by his stage name David Bowie, whose first hit single Space Oddity released in 1969, has left us with over four decades of popular music. An innovator in his work and a master of his appearance, Bowie’s androgynous appearance was the archetypal element of his persona.

When I talked to Jiggy Junior last night about the passing of such an icon, he was distraught by the loss of the most revolutionizing artist he has ever come across. The Thin White Duke was undoubtedly one of his idols as he spoke about him with such high regards.

“He was the best example of a person who knows how to reinvent the wheel and look at the world differently at all times” says Jiggy and true to fact, Bowie had the talent to consistently renovate himself, his style, his music, his career! “He always modernized his entire image, from his clothes to his hair, pushing the envelope in collaborating with current artists like Nine Inch Nails for example and doing just about anything and everything to be renewing!”

A unique luminary indeed, Bowie reintroduced himself unwaveringly, and as such influenced endless big names in the music industry. It’s hard to say who he didn’t influence having been a great collaborator with megastars including Luther Vandross, Madonna, Duran Duran, Lady Gaga and so many more.

He was also one of the only ten famous people that turned down knighthood like John Lennon as he quoted “I would never have any intention of accepting anything like that” as he continued saying “I seriously don’t know what it’s for. It’s not what I spent my life working for.”

The ingenious flamboyancy of his works of art, his all-embracing charisma, his ever-changing guise and his eccentric creativity will definitely be missed.

This is why Jiggy In The Morning will put together a special tribute to this ever-so-extraordinary music prophet. Lined up will be four of his greatest tracks representing the four amazing decades of his career as Jiggy Junior keeps you in the loop on the latest developments on Bowie.

David Bowie will always remain in our hearts as one of the greatest musicians of all times. Cheers to the man who sold the world
