Stripped Down never fails to relieve me with soft-pedal tracks to unwind my Sundays even on a bustling Sinulog weekend!

Although this week we’ve picked up the pace with more up-tempo tracks to be a foil for the festivities, we still had those special tracks to cool us off during the hare-brained insanity.

I still can’t get over the Marron 5 acoustic version of This Love from their 2007 live performance at The Sauce Fuse with Adam Lavine giving it his all. Not a wonder from the frontman who co-wrote the 2004 pop rock track together with keyboardist Jesse Carmichael for their debut album Songs About Jane at the lowest point of his life, after having broken-up with his girlfriend.

Another dynamo heard on last night’s show was the live adaptation of Foster The People’s Pumped Up Kicks by the American pop duo Amy Renee Heidemann and Nick Noonan known as Karmin. Widely held for their incredible covers that brought them to fame, they pumped a live mashup of the chilling summer hit which was a total knockout last night, bringing back memories of the 2011 breakthrough track, lyrics of which referred to troubled juveniles with homicidal impaired-judgements.

Also uncovered was a raw version of the Canadian singer Nelly Furtado’s dance-pop, hip hop, R&B “overtly-sexual” lead single Promiscuous featuring Timbaland, which was originally recorded for her third studio album Loose and released in 2006. The international success received positive reviews as the highlight of the album and made it to Number 1 in the US.

Together with the drumbeats of Sinulog and these upbeat tracks Stripped Down as always, was a stunner as it featured heaps of implausible tracks here on Y101 Always First so keep it locked in every Sunday from 8PM – 12AM for more of these naked performances!
