Listen to Your Heart is one of the most popular hits from the Swedish rock duo Roxette. It was one of the top 25 best selling singles of 1989 and replaced New Kids on the Block from the top of several charts.

According to Per Gessle, the vocalist from Roxette, the song was conceived as:

"The Big Bad Ballad. This is us trying to recreate that overblown American FM-rock sound to the point where it almost becomes absurd. We really wanted to see how far we could take it."

And the band successfully did so. Having dominated the international airwaves and managed to become part of our rock and roll subconsciousness. It was a big hit in 1989, when the biggest movie that year was the first Batman film starring Val Kilmer and Jack Nicholson as the Joker!
