After five spectacular Transformers movies, director Michael Bay said he’s ready to walk away.

Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth movie in the series, will hit theaters next week! It is expected to rake in millions of dollars just like the last four movies have been able to do so.

Earlier this year, Michael Bay, the explosive director of all the Transformers movies, said that he will bid farewell to the franchise after The Last Knight. This is something that he’s said several times before, only to get behind the camera again for another sequel, but this time it feels like he’s telling the truth.

Given that each Transformers movie takes about two years to complete, Michael Bay expressed how he’s stepping away from the franchise in a recent interview, citing that he is exhausted at making another big-budget film.

These movies that I’ve done, they are massive movies. They take a lot out of you,” Bay told Fandango. “I’ve done it enough, and I’ve had a great time doing it. I’m going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you’re ahead, you know. I think I’ve had a good run, and I’ve got a lot of other movies I want to do.”
