Have you listened to the song, “Fireflies” and got confused with its context?
Now after 8 years since its release on 2009, the electronica and electropop group Owl City recently explained a slice of what the song’s lyric ‘literally’ mean.
“‘Cause I’d get a thousand hugs
From 10,000 lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance”
Adam Young, the band’s vocalist and composer, was questioned by a fan by a Tweet and has responded to the said question over a lengthy reply.

"I was the recipient of 1,000 hugs from 10,000 lightning bugs for a grand total of 10,000,000 hugs," says Adam.
Seemingly, “Fireflies” was raised backed from the archives since the lyrics itself recently became an internet meme –finding its new life in the hands of ridiculous meme-makers.
