Over the weekend, hundreds of women (and their boyfriends) flocked to Waterfront Cebu City Hotel to see Boyce Avenue and Moira Dela Torre perform their signature acoustic sing-along love songs. Emitting a romantic mood with their voices, these artists have undoubtedly made all the hearts inside Waterfront’s Grand Ballroom melt in just one night. Here’s what went down.

The concert started with 24-year old Olongapo native Moira dela Torre strumming her guitar and singing her original-penned love songs both heartbreaking and cute. Her popular ballad ‘Before It Sinks In’ resonated in the Grand Ballroom and at the time she played her melancholic ode to childhood “Tagu-Taguan”, almost half of the crowd in attendance were teary-eyed. Moira did end her set with an up-beat and cheeky hit called “Titibo-Tibo”, a Himig Handog-winning song about a boy who’ve managed to catch the feelings of a tomboy.

After a 30-minute break, YouTube’s best acoustic band Boyce Avenue entered the stage and started playing “Wonderwall”. This was the 4th time the Florida-native siblings performed in Cebu. The reason they keep coming back, as lead vocalist Alejandro Luis Manzano put it, “Filipinos, and Cebuanos in particular, always give us passion and a reason to keep coming back”.

Boyce Avenue alternately performed some of their well-known covers and original songs. They sang “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman and “Yellow” by Coldplay. At the end of their gig, they invited Moira back on stage to perform together a cover of “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur.
