Yesterday the 76th Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held. A few highlights from the show included Darren Criss thanking his Cebuana mother during his acceptance speech after winning Best Performance in a Miniseries for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”, and Christian Bale thanking Satan.
Actor Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) won Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his role playing the 46th U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in the biographical comedy-drama “Vice”. During his acceptance speech, Bale thanked the dark Lord Satan for inspiring his transformation into the role. You can watch his acceptance speech below.

Reactions to Bale’s comments were mixed. There were laughter in the audience and people in the internet found the humor in thanking Satan. However, Dick Cheney’s real life daughter Liz Cheney, wasn’t so pleased. She later tweeted an article about the actor allegedly assaulting his own family members and captioning the post with “Satan probably inspired him to do this, too.” —though as the Daily Beast pointed out, he apparently never actually laid a hand on anyone, and the charges were ultimately dismissed.
