James Ingram, the R&B singer famous for his soulful smooth voice gave the world timeless classics such as “Just Once”, “I Don’t Have the Heart”, and “Baby, Come to Me”. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s he infiltrated the Top 40 charts with many of his songs including “PYT (Pretty Young Thing)” which he co-wrote with Michael Jackson. Ingram not only garner Grammy nominations, he was nominated for two Oscars as well, both of which were for Best Original Song.  

This morning, James Ingram’s close friend and creative partner Debbie Allen revealed to the public that the singer has passed away at 66 years old. Ingram was reported to have been suffering from brain cancer, but cause of his death has not been confirmed yet.

Debbie Allen wrote about Ingram; "I have lost my dearest friend and creative partner James Ingram to the Celestial Choir. He will always be cherished, loved and remembered for his genius, his love of family and his humanity. I am blessed to have been so close. We will forever speak his name."
