You'll never feel guilty munching on these ever again.

Snack time is my favorite part of my workday and all of us want a satisfying bite. Junk food tends to be a favorite and easy choice but we're not getting any younger and we should be more conscious of our choices. There are several junk food choices that are downright bad for you but guess what- there are also other options that you shouldn't feel guilty about!

Chicharon

Chicharon

Yep, the mother of all crunchy goodness! Believe it or not pork rinds, which have gotten a really bad rap, are actually good for you. While they are deep fat fried- which we all automatically assume that's bad for us, one serving actually provides 17 grams of protein and 9 grams of fat, which is less fat than you’d find in the same serving size of potato chips. In addition, that fat that you’re worried about?Well 43% of it is oleic acid which is the same as the good fat found in the olive oil that everyone is rushing to buy now because it’s supposed to be so good for you.

Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate

Sweet sinful goodness that has a range of benefits as wide as heaven's gate. Rich in antioxidants, fiber, and can also help lower blood sugar levels and risk for heart diseases. But the list doesn't end there!

Pizza- Without the meat

Pizza- Without the meat

When done right, pizza is actually a good filling snack or meal option! When topped by vegetables and cheese, it can be a good source of calcium, fiber and Vitamin , as well. Several Itallian restaurants here in Cebu make pizza with fresh and thin dough but of course, you can whip up your own at home as you can control what goes into your food.

Fries

Fries

Using too much salt and used oil makes them very fattening. Apparently, they can be a good source of vitamin C, and they provide some fiber as well. But it is recommended to bake all that goodness instead of frying them..and that will also enhance the fries' flavor! Plus you can control how much salt you want.

Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies

Store-bought cookies are loaded with butter and sugar but surprisingly, Quacker Oatmeal Cookies run low on the calories, sodium and sugar but most definitely don't cut back on the delectable goodness!

Ice Cream

Ice Cream

There are some silver linings to this delicious bowl of yum. Ice cream has bone-strengthening calcium and phosphorus, the potassium is great for lowering your blood pressure, B vitamins for energy and protein to aid in tissue repair and cell growth.

Regardless whether a snack is classified as junk food or not, always eat in moderation! So go have an indulgent break today.
