inFORM - Interactive Dynamic Shape Display

The future is here.

That piece of technology right there is called inFORM. It is a Dynamic Shape Display than can make 3D objects in physical form so that users can interact with them in tangible ways. With this new technology, users can make video conferences from half way round the world more interactive. Anything they want to display to other users, they can physically display them through inFORM.

Using an upgraded Kinect camera and a few more complicated set-up, users can create and manipulate 3D objects as if they were really touching them. Motherboard described it as “physical manifestation of digital information.”

However, you can’t buy inFORM in any form any time soon, as it is unlikely to become available for consumers. Researchers at MIT Media Lab who made this technology are only making this for research purposes.
