Y101fm doesn't just go with the "Always First" slogan for no reason.

They have been, and still remain to be, the most innovative radio station in the island. It's like Y101fm started everything that's relatively "in"/trendy right now. No wonder why this hip radio station is already running its 35th year in the industry.

Radio stations back in the day, including Y101fm, played their music through cassette tapes called 'cartages'. It was already good, but it wasn't the best quality when it came to sound. You could still listen to music, but it made a lot of hisses which destroys the overall experience when listening to great music. Because of that, Y101fm wasn't that much satisfied with the tapes, so they came up with a solution to make it even better.

Y101fm was the first radio station to play on Compact Discs. CDs were way better than the cartages because they didn't make a lot of unnecessary and annoying sounds. It also definitely made clearer music. Since then, other radio stations followed the idea of compact discs. So when we say Y101fm is always first, they really are always first in almost everything, and this radio station doesn't seem to age at all.
