Jiggy Talks About Nothing: The Importance of Nothingness
What’s really about in the concept of “nothing” that makes our morning radio host so excited?
Jiggy Jr has always given me thought-provoking topics every time I come to the booth for my weekly Y101talks with him. This time he caught my interest once again when he offered to talk to me about nothing and why it’s very very important in life and in the history of the universe.
The “Mr sunshine” radio host of Jiggy in the Morning eagerly told me about “nothing” and how nobody really pays attention to such an important concept. He made a very convincing lecture to me about how there is always something inside the “nothing”.
The universe is made up of billions and billions of heavenly objects that float around a void. Commonly we learn that in between the stars and the planets and all the objects floating around in space, there is nothing. But Jiggy Jr asserts that researchers have found out that the nothingness in space is actually something. It’s called dark energy. There are forces at play in those empty spaces. Even though we can’t see what’s floating around the emptiness, scientists are sure that there is something at work filling in those gaps.
It’s a really fascinating concept, about how there’s so much interesting stuff in “nothing”. We all emerged from that nothingness after all. 13.8 billion years ago or so, we were just this tiny dot and then we exploded and expanded to everything we know now.

A few weeks ago, Jiggy was asked a very curious question from his daugher. She asked his radio dad what it felt like when everyone of us weren’t born yet. Jiggy just straight up said “You were nothing. And now you’re here”.
He says that “the important thing about nothing is that it enables everything to be.” My take is that there is always potential for growth in the nothingness. Take an empty room for an example. You walk in the seemingly empty space where you see four corners. You and other elements occupy that emptiness and you don’t notice the great forces that are at play. You might not even know that at the very moment you fill in the space in that room, an idea is produced which will in turn affect yours and other people’s future.
That’s why Jiggy Jr is always excited about nothing. He claims that his show Jiggy in the Morning has always followed the concept, and he tries the best he can to make sure his show is about nothing.
