It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive

Jiggy Jr quotes Stevenson. Check out what it means.

It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive

Jiggy Jr has shared that quote to his over 1,500 followers on Twitter. But what does it mean?

This phrase is a Robert Louis Stevenson quotation, from his 1881 essay Virginibus Puerisque.

"Little do ye know your own blessedness; for to travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive, and the true success is to labour."

Stevenson was expressing the same idea as the earlier Taoist saying - "The journey is the reward.". It basically means that you should enjoy the process of doing something, rather than anticipate the result of doing it.

Most student couldn’t wait to graduate, but what they should really be doing is enjoying their journey towards graduation. The time spent in school, the relationship built between your friends and teachers over the years are more rewarding than the end goal which is to get your diploma. So I guess that’s what Jiggy Jr is trying to tell his Twitter followers;

The getting there is better and more rewarding than the being there. “It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive
