Last night, Y101 Always First featured the last Sunset Cruise of the year with lots of nostalgia and memories from the brilliant sets released in 2015.
And bidding it farewell with a big bang, we featured vocal house and beach tracks on the Cruise, covering mixes from the albums Hed Kandi Tropical House, Amsterdam Dance Mixes 2015 and Ibiza Opening Party 2015.
Three significant tracks that I need to make mention of, not only because they are blockbusting, epic and mind-blowing, but because I genuinely feel they were the trail blazers of EDM this year…
The original version of Shawn Mendes’ Stitches which he first released in May was remixed by the Norwegian duo SeeB and made public on October 16, 2015 – this had to be one of the choicest house memoirs I’ve ever heard, cool in nature, powerful in substance! Being one of my faves this year, I’d give this track an A+!
And chilling deep with a special remix by the German DJ and producer Robin Schultz (famous for tracks like Prayer In C and Sugar) is Rudimental Featuring Ed Sheeran’s Lay It All On Me. Released only last November 20 from the album Lay It All On Me, I would say this is another one of my choice cuts!
Yet an additional runaway success for the year 2015 in my opinion is the original mix by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk featuring Pharell Williams. Get Lucky is a dance music song with lyrics achieving limitless acclaims from critics. It is also the lead single of their fourth studio album Random Access Memories released as far back as May 2013. This one’s definitely a winner!
Last night was certainly an outstanding goodbye to 2015, even if it was no different from every kick back session we’ve delivered to our fans to satisfy their EDM, beach house, chill out and tropical house craves. But what’s even better is that we have a world of flabbergasting new tracks and surprises for 2016.
Here’s a couple of things to look forward to – for one, our weekly contest is now at 4k because we’ve had no winners for the past 3 sessions! Wow – that’s amazing! Questions are getting harder guys, so do your homework!
Also, rumor has it that the entire Y101 Production Team is going all out crafting this show to be the in vogue trend of the week so Marko will be hosting Part II of the Cruise – but this is just a buzz, so let’s hear it happen!
