Freddie Roach on Crawford

After Terence Crawford’s (29-0) unanimous victory over previously undefeated Viktor Postol (28-1), Crawford secures his spot as a possible candidate as Manny Pacquiao’s return bout slated on November 5. Despite a huge number of people showing disapproval over the shortlived retirement of “The People’s Champ”, there is little sign to show that Team Pacman is fazed and hesitant to get back to the ring. But according to Freddie Roach, the right time is “not right now”.

According to Roach, who also happens to be the trainer of Viktor Postol, the next fight should be a warm-up fight, before Pacman can get back into fighting boxers of the same caliber as rising star Terence Crawford.

Roach tells boxingscene.com: "I don't think we are going to accept or want the Crawford fight for Manny straight away”, citing reasons from Pacquiao’s political career to him requiring to travel to the Philippines just so he can train Pacman.

But he isn’t dismissing the posibility of the matchup in the near future.

"We will take it in the future, give me one warm-up fight and a fight right after that and then we can talk.”

Whether if Freddie Roach will have his way or if Crawford will definitely be fighting Manny is yet to be seen.
